"HUNTINGTON BEACH - James Owen Sullivan, a drummer and backup vocalist for the Southern California band Avenged Sevenfold, was found dead at his home on Monday, authorities have confirmed.

Sullivan, who went by the stage name The Rev, appears to have died of natural causes, Huntington Beach police Lt. John Domingo said. Police were notified by firefighters who had responded to Sullivan's home about 1 p.m.

No matter whatever was the cause of his death, we have lost another great and legendary musician. To lose him at a tender young age of 28 is saddening but what makes it even worse is the fact that Avenged Sevenfold would never be same without The Rev. He was one of the dopest drummers with sick beats. 'Afterlife' now gives a whole new meaning now that he's gone.

"Loved ones back home all crying ’cause they're already missing me, I pray by the grace of God that there's somebody listening." You'll always be remembered by all Avenged Sevenfold fans. No matter how far we are, you're still in our hearts.
